BDH ADULT LEAGUE RULES
Gameplay
3 - 10 minute periods with stopped clock.
Clock runs at 6 goal lead.
Only stops for goals, penalties, and no balls in play.
Clock stops running once 5 goal lead again.
Mercy Rule
Game ends after a 9 goal lead, after the 2nd period.
Teams can scrimmage remaining time.
Best of 3 Shootout if tied at end of regulation.
If the shootout remains tied, any player can go after the three shooters have gone, including the same player. This will act as a sudden death-style of a shootout, where each team goes back and forth trying to score. The first team to score in a round and stop the other team wins.
Rules
Wins are worth 2 points. Losses are worth 0 points. Shootout wins are worth 2 points. Shootout losses are worth 1 point. Forfeits subtract 1 point.
Games will be rescheduled ONLY due to severe weather. Teams will have to forfeit if they can not make the game.
Players are to sign in before the game at the score box. If players aren’t signed in, they could miss playoffs due to games played.
Ref Fees are to be paid before the game. $20 per team.
Teams should all have the same color and number on jerseys/shirts.
NO ALCOHOL OR SMOKING ALLOWED ON THE BENCH
Automatic Icing - Icing will be called, once the ball passes the goal line, the whistle will blow.
Offsides will be called, the center ice line is considered the offsides line. Touchup offsides is allowed.
Defensive zone hand pass ok below center line
Pass must start and end below center line
Players are allowed to close their hand on the ball, but can’t take a step with it.
Minor penalties are 1 minute
Major penalties are 3 minutes
Misconduct penalties are 5 minutes
Any player receiving their 4th minor penalty of the game will also be given a game misconduct.
If a team is more than 5 minutes late to start a game they will be assessed a minor penalty to start the game.
If a team is not ready within 15 minutes of game time they will forfeit.
One 1 minute timeout per game per team.
If a team commits a bench minor for too many men in the last minute of regulation or at any point in overtime, the opposing team is awarded a penalty shot.
Any intent to injure another player, whether the player gets injured or not, will be subject to a review and a possible suspension.
Any player who leaves the bench during an altercation will be subject to a review and a possible suspension.
Any player who fights with another person will be immediately ejected and will be subject to a review and suspension.
Suspensions. The length of a suspension can be anywhere from 1 game to a lifetime suspension.
Physical or verbal abuse of an official will result in a review/suspension
Please only captains speaking to officials.
Players who are ejected from 2 games during the season, will receive a 1 game suspension. If the player is ejected from a 3rd game, they will receive a 2 game suspension. If they are ejected from a 4th game, they are removed from the league.
Any player who is suspended may appeal his/her suspension within 7 days by contacting Mavrik at Butler Dek Hockey.
If a team does not show up for a game and doesn’t notify in advance, the team may be removed from the league and no league fees will be returned.
Any team or player that drops out of a league will not be refunded.
Equipment Requirements
All players under the age of 18, are required to wear the following shin guards, helmet with shield or cage, gloves, elbow pads.
All players 18 and over are required to wear the following shin guards, gloves.
No Heely’s or crocs allowed
Playoffs
Playoff seeding is determined by total team points.
If 2 teams have the same amount of points, the tiebreaker will be head to head points.
The 2nd tiebreaker is total goals scored in the head to head matchups.
The 3rd tiebreaker is total regulation wins.
The 4th tiebreaker is total goals scored in the season.
The 5th tiebreaker is a coin toss.
If 3 or more teams have the same amount of points, the tiebreaker goes straight to total regulation wins.
The 2nd tiebreaker is total goals scored in the season.
The 3rd tiebreaker is a coin toss.
All playoff series are one game elimination, adult finals are now a best of three series, youth are best of 1.
Playoff brackets will be determined by the number of teams in each league.
Only roster players who have participated in at least 3 regular season games are eligible to play in the playoffs. Exceptions may be made for goaltenders and injured players, but must be approved first by the GM.
There are no shootouts in the playoffs. All ties will be decided in sudden death 10 minute periods. Switch sides each period.
Statistics
Player statistics will be calculated after each game and posted on the Butler Dek Hockey website.
Awards
Top Scorer - This is the player with the highest amount of goals and assists.
Top Goaltender - This is the best goalie voted by teams. Total wins, GAA, and shutouts will be taken into consideration.
Showtime Award - Player with the most GWG
Sniper Award - Player with the most Goals
Playmaker Award - Player with the most Assists
